Ladies competition tee booking goes online

Published: 15th May 2016

With effect from the 14th June the Ladies competitions will go online for tee booking. This is an extension of the system already in use for signing in and paying which was introduced a few years ago, and works in the same way as the general member’s online tee booking which is already available. The main benefit of this new system is that it will enable players to book, change or cancel their tee time without having to attend the club in person; it will also allow players to check their tee time and playing partner(s) from home should they need to.

There are understandably some questions which may arise, many of which can be answered by noting these key points of the system;

  • Competitions will be available for sign up from 3 weeks prior to the competition date (as at present). The first competition will be available to book from the 24th May.

  • It will be possible to book a competition tee in several ways; using a PC or tablet computer at home; using the console in the signing in room; by telephone to the club or through reception in person at the club.

  • Ladies can sign up in exactly the same way as is currently done, in pairs (or the appropriate number for the competition) or by signing up with someone who has already put their name in.

  • Use of an email account is helpful for confirmation of tee bookings or to remind forgotten passwords but is NOT compulsory

  • Payment will NOT be taken until the player signs in to the competition on the day (as at present).

  • Players will be able to access the tee sheet at any time via any of the methods mentioned above to view tee times, make changes or check times

To ensure a smooth transition to this system, ladies will need to be registered to use the online booking system already available on the club website and members of the committee will make themselves available on Tuesdays and Fridays to assist anyone in need of guidance with this.

From the 24th May when the first competition is available for booking, there will be written guidance available to take away as well as committee members being available to consult. Ladies can bring their own devices in to the club if they wish so that they can familiarise themselves with the process and check that they can access everything easily.

The committee are happy to answer questions and receive feedback so that any initial issues can be worked out; as with any new system it will take a little time to adjust but many other clubs are already using systems of this type and the overall response to them is very positive.
