The sun was shining for Ladies Captain Annie Cruse as she hosted her captain’s day on Tuesday 31st May. Players were greeted by Annie in the morning to collect the cards for the 3 ball Joker competition for which some explanation was required to ensure everyone played by the rules!

The teams enjoyed sunny but increasingly breezy conditions, making good scoring tricky at times. The Joker format came into play when players could nominate a hole (before teeing off!) where they could count all three players scores and then double the total. This proved to be decisive for some teams when it came to the prizes.

On returning to the clubhouse the ladies were offered a glass of Pimm’s to refresh them and there followed an afternoon tea of sandwiches, quiche and a fine array of cakes and desserts all served in the dining room which had been given a lovely summery touch with flowers and table accessories. Suitably replete the ladies then adjourned downstairs for the prize giving.

Annie welcomed all the ladies and thanked them for supporting the day. There were some amusing anecdotes of the effects of absentmindedness on ladies competitions recently, which linked in neatly with Annie’s charity, ‘Memory Matters South West’; Annie thanked everyone for their support so far this year with her charity events.

The prizes were then awarded to the winning teams as follows;
