Tuesday 3rd October dawned bright and breezy for the Ladies Autumn Meeting this year, which after the recent spell of heavy rain was a relief to Ladies’ Captain Tamsin Blake. Players stranded abroad and others having early morning mishaps meant the she and Vice-Captain Diana were busy making team changes at the eleventh hour and thanks to a couple of helpful Ladies all was well by tee time.

Whilst the weather was dry it was chilly and the stiff breeze made playing conditions tricky. The scores returned were consequently fairly low and remarks of “you can put that one in the bin” and “don’t bother checking this one” were frequently heard on handing cards in.

On returning to the clubhouse the Ladies were warmed with a snack of home-made soup and a cheese scone before the prize giving. Tamsin thanked everyone warmly for participating and was full of praise for the lovely prize table put together by Sue Richards who was celebrating her birthday. Unfortunately for Sue her birthday began with a bit of a mishap resulting in a visit to hospital so she was unable to play. Sue did manage to join us later though and we all wished her well and hope that her injuries heal soon.
