Katie Rule makes the cut at the English Women's Championship

Published: 20th May 2012

Played at Royal Birkdale between 15th and 17th May Katie Rule made the last 36 cut and finished a very creditable 27th in this premier event. The format of the event has changed as those making the top 36 cut used to then play match play knockout, now they play 2 further medal rounds.

The event was won after a sudden death play off by Curtis Cup player and local girl Kelly Tidy from Remedy Oak's Georgia Hall.  Katie made the cut and finished a very creditable 27th equal with her final round of 79 (4 over par) her best of the tournament. Sarah-Jane Boyd of Truro who has beaten Katie in the last two County Finals finished 4 strokes behind her in 32nd spot.

Next year the event is at Kings Norton but in 2014 it will be held here at St Enodoc. I am sure Katie will be playing then plus some of those other St Enodoc members like Judy Hultgren and Jenny Justice who played in the event which was abandoned in 2002.
