Johnny Cowling on sparkling form

Published: 28th March 2015

Highly respected and popular Club Captain Tony Rounsevell, who will shortly relinquish the reins of office after two years in post, last night welcomed well known Cornish entertainer Johnny Cowling to the club for the evening.

One hundred and twenty Club Members and their guests first enjoyed a buffet meal in the newly re-furbished restaurant before Johnny entertained. Johnny is well known for his humour and strong singing voice, he is also known as an entertainer who likes to get among the people during performance -with a wealth of tales and yarns to spin. Last night he could scarcely believe his luck with the natural material right in front of him. Johnny is an alumni of Wadebridge School and there in the audience were a number of his ex-school teachers - "pay back time" he said. So in a hilarious but kindly way he made some fun at the school teachers expense; however a good many more of the audience were also wound into his stories. None more so than the newly wedded Rod and Sue Frost. It would not be an exaggeration to say that many of the audience had tears running down their face with his Cornish wit and humour.

A great evening - Thank you Johnny and Tony !
