John Walker beats Seve Ballesteros record !

Published: 29th November 2013

Past Captain of the Club,  ex Repton Housemaster, English Language guru, fount of all knowledge on the Rules of Golf and Head Farmer John Walker had a hole in one on the Church Course 8th hole on Monday last 25th November whilst playing in the Seniors Monday swindle.

By all accounts this was a very fine shot with no element of fluke or luck. The ball landed on the green and rolled gently up the cup and plopped in for John's fifth ace of his career. Interviewed after the round John was his usual modest self and declined to reveal which club he had used for this fine feat.

Now what you may ask has this got to do with Seve Ballesteros ? Well for all his achievements and trick shots Seve never had a hole in one.

The hole-in-one has many record holders for various categories. Among the most notable is Harold Stilson, who ranks as the oldest man to hit a hole-in-one at 101 years of age. At 102 years old, Elsie McLean is the oldest woman to hit a hole-in-one. The longest hole-in-one was recorded in 2007 by Bret Melson. Melson put one in from 448 yards out on the 18th hole at Ko'olau Golf Club in Hawaii.
