John Cory Cup Round 7

Published: 20th February 2017

Saturday was a bright and sunny day, unlike most Saturdays this month!    71 men were encouraged by the spring like conditions to enter the 7th round of the John Cory Cup.

Playing superbly and having a sprinkling of Bunty Luck, Andy Bunt finished with 37 points to take first place.  His birdy on the 6th was somewhat unconventional with his second shot flying way right, up onto the path to the 7th tee.  Instead of getting lost as would have happen to most, Bunty’s ball pinged up off the path and bounced twice, before bouncing twice more, back down onto the green, where upon Bunty long putted to sink the ball in 3!

Josh Greenaway, playing off scratch, came in second with 36 points and birdies on 8, 11 and 13.  Behind him, several player scored 35 points with Matt Robins ahead, in 3rd place, on countback.  Tuck Clagett, John Arnold, Greg Mather and Andy Golding also all scored 35 points.  After them and still in the prizes Andy Burt and Phil Jory both scored 34 points with Richard Norsworthy in 10th place on 34 points.

Andy Bunt is now leading in the series after his win on this weekend, ahead of Andy Griffiths by 2 points.
