Important Change to Local Rules
Local Rule - Water Hazard 5th Hole Church Course

With immediate effect the water hazard on the 5th hole of the Church Course has been designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area. Entry into and/or play from this area is prohibited for environmental reasons.

If is known or virtually certain that a ball that is in an ESA defined as a water hazard, the player must, under penalty of one stroke, proceed under Rule 26-1.

NB 1: Balls may NOT be recovered
NB 2: The path is an obstruction within the hazard. There is no relief from an immovable obstructon within a hazard.

This rule has of course been in force since last October however it is posted again now as a reminder now that the new notices are in place. An extensive planting programme is now underway in the marsh areas on this hole. The area is in the process of being planted with hundreds of yellow iris, white iris, snowdrops and other plants. Some of these are clearly visible in the photo below. Additionally when the soil is warmer wild flower seeds will be oversown over the whole area
