Holywell Seniors Stableford 4th July

Published: 10th July 2016

The Holywell Seniors celebrated a good golfing day on Monday by producing some really good golf. A little sun and light wind encouraged 15 starters to excel despite an average age approaching 80.

John Walker produced a very steady card for 36 points but David Balmford and Derek Kingsbury both produced something special. David managed a gross 69 despite three-putting 5 times. He said he hadn't played that sort of golf since his 20s. However he was very disappointed when Derek Kingsbury recorded 42 points to take the money! As a matter of interest John, David and Derek boast 253 years between them! (Actually they don't boast about it – they try to keep it quiet.) David and Derek both got chopped and were asked to join the Holywell Seniors Handicap List.

15 was a very good turn out. Surely the next Stableford will produce scintillating performances by some of the youngsters!

PS: Niblick understands that today is Derek Kingsbury's birthday - four score years and ten ! Happy Birthday Derek - keep knocking in the birdies.
