Yesterday whilst watching this winters seemingly never ending rain I started to contemplate on what I might be reporting about weatherwise in respect of todays mixed golf. I began by thinking of some metaphors concerning Noah, the Great Biblical Flood and golfers two by two etc. In the event these were unecessary as whilst there were one or two rather unpleasant blustery showers, including some of hail, there was not by comparison with the recent monsoon a great deal of rain at all. Eventually the late starters were rewarded with calmer and dryer weather, the wind dropping to a kindly 7 mph which is not to suggest that the golf was easy - far from it. And despite all the winter rain St Enodoc was perfectly playable by comparison with many courses in Cornwall - so at least those hardy souls who took to the links today were able to get eighteen holes in. The greens are in great condition and it seems to your reporter at least as quick and true as in the height of summer.

Enough of the great British obsession with the weather; those who managed to managed to play the best golf despite the conditions were -

Holywell Course

  • Cath & Terry Buscombe 42 pts
  • Teresa & John Radford 41 pts
  • Rose Jones & Malcolm Knight 39 pts

Church Course

  • Annie & Bob Cruse 33 pts
  • Richard & Tamsin Blake 28 pts
  • Sue & Kevin Richards 28 pts
