With a good number of absentees - Man flu, New Year hang over, laziness, foresight, can't play I'm washing my hair, dislike of playing in the cold etc - it was decided to combine the Church Course and Holywell competitions into one and which was today played on the Holywell.

A good many courses not far away are either closed or otherwise restricted in some way, so to be able to play on a dry course after the all the rain that has fallen in recent weeks is a bonus and one of the benefits of links golf. The day whilst dry and sunny was nonetheless bitterly cold with a brisk North Easterly driving the wind chill temperature down to -2 degrees C and which ensured that golf was played with the minimum of delay.

Those who survived the cold best and scored well were

1st Pam Chapman & Geoff Matthews

2nd Jane & Peter Bendall

3rd Diana & Tony Mindel

4th Barbara & Keith Willmott
