English Amateur Championships Day 1

Published: 28th July 2014

Day 1 of the English Amateur Championships at Saunton saw the first of 2 Medal rounds to decide the top 32 who will play the Match play knockout element to decide the 2014 Amateur Champion. It was a day of mixed fortunes for the West Country boys with our own Josh Walsh tieing in 84th place on 4 over Par - 3 off the cut mark. The start of the day for Cornwall was West Cornwall's Harry Hall fresh off tied 5th in the Boys Carris Trophy and being selected for England who sits on 2 under par in a tie for 5th place just 1 shot off the pace.

The rest of the Cornish boys did not fare so well with Adam Curtis from Bude on 6 over and Conor Wilson from Perranporth 9 over. Tomorrow is another day so there is all to play for in Round 2.
