The first Cornwall dual county PGA Medal of the Winter for professional golfers in Devon and Cornwall was a great success and it was good to see the PGA Professionals come down and play on our magnificent links on 4th November. The course was in great condition for them and the Medal was played off the Championship Blue Tees. The course now measures 6,600 yards and on their say so is one of the most difficult Par 69 courses in the country!
It was Chris Gill (Exeter) who continued his good form throughout 2011 to win the first dual county medal with a 1 under par 68 which set a new Championship Blue Tees course record. This round included a triple bogey on the 4th hole with 2 balls going out of bounds. Devon also dominated the next two places with James Pickard (Honiton) and Christian Vine (Axe Cliff) coming in second with level par 69s. The best Cornwall player was Richard Sadler (Killiow) on +1 par 70 in fourth position.
