CTC Semi-Final loss to Perranporth

CTC match vs Perranporth at Trevose

Sunday the 25th of Feb was sunny but with the wind gave a chill factor of -3 degrees. The course opened at 10am and was in good condition.

The result of the morning foursomes was:

1 Mike Masters & Steve Buse lost to Connor Wilson & Chris Fleming 4&3

2 Guy Hovil & Lewis Bradley halved with Tom Benney & George Law 

3 Joe Combellack & Joe Cruse beat Sandy Kirton & Chris Johnston 2 & 1

4 Jack Irwin & David Lupton lost to Chris Llewelyn & Simon Knowles 4&3

9th man Mark Westlake beat Leigh Hammond 2 up

2.25 St Enodoc 2.5 Perranporth

Buse and Masters came up against county pairing Wilson and Fleming, who have a combined handicap of +5 and so were up against it. Guy and Lewis played well and got a valiant half. Irwin and Lupton struggled on the back 9 due to steady golf from their opponents. There was plenty of drama in the Cruse and Combellack game, with a 4 under par back 9, they turned over the two county players by canning a solid 5ft par putt on the 17th. Westlake finished well to bag the team ¾ points.

The final score was 5.25-7.5 which is a respectable score for St.Enodoc who were against the odds on paper. The next club county fixture is the A team event round 1, and potentially quarter final in the afternoon, on Sunday 22nd April vs Bude and North Cornwall at West Cornwall Golf Club.
