This time last year St Enodoc beat Tehidy in a very closely fought match at Perranporth; this year Tehidy reversed the result and easily beat our CTC Team.  In the morning matches only John Derry, playing in the ninth man match, managed to win. In the four foursomes matches we lost three and halved one leaving the team down at lunch by 1 1/4 points to 3 1/2. With a total of 12 3/4 points on offer for the days match this left Tehidy only needing to win three of the afternoon singles to reach the necessary winning margin of 6 1/2 points. Stated the other way about the mornings indifferent performance left St Enodoc needing to win 5 1/2 points out of 8 in the afternoon - this was always going to be difficult and so it proved. Jack Irwin led off and in a gutsy performance brought in the first point. Antony Nash fighting for a half on the last green was defeated by a good putt - one of many by Tehidy players it must be said. Captain Steve Chapman as always brought in a point. Behind the Captain, Joe Cruse and Simon Welsh were both defeated. These three Tehidy wins were thus enough and the remaining games on the course were deemed to be halved. Speaking after the match Captain Steve Chapman said "Our poor play this morning was not good enough and we left ourselves too much to do in the afternoon"
