Once again a St Enodoc Cornwall Bowl team have failed to progress beyond the second round of this competition; this time being defeated by a very good Trethorne side who played at a level well above what their handicaps may have indicated. Trethorne had a good run in this competition last winter being losing semi-finalists. There was some excellent golf on show at Bowood on a course which was surprisingly dry considering all of the rain which has fallen this past two weeks. Club Captain Tony Rounsevell and a good number of supporters were present on decent day for winter golf.

Ken Perring and Mark Turner raced to a 6&4 win but the second pair came up against a Trethorne pair who played fine golf to lose 5&4. Ryan Perring and Mark Richards were one down for a long period in their close match and finally succumbed 2&1. Simon Lewins and Andy Griffiths needed to play par golf to have any chance against their opponents who played very well and dropped just four shots on the front nine. Andy Golding and Kevin Parker too were in their match for a long time but could not shake off determined opponents losing on the 16th green. Final score St Enodoc 1 Trethorne 4.

  • Ken Perring & Mark Turner won 6 & 4 against Paul Grey & Ian Burn
  • Geoff Jones & Roger Tremain lost 5 & 4 against Paul Stanbury &  Gary Shirley

  • Simon Lewins & Andy Griffiths lost 5 & 3 against Ian Moulds & Alex Manuel
