Colonels/Metropole Cup, Round 6

Published: 25th July 2016

It was Round 6 of the Colonels/Metropole Cups this Saturday, just 2 rounds left to play, so the Series Tables are getting more interesting.   89 members teed off in sunshine with a bit of westerly wind to contend with.

Paul Broadhurst, the winner of the Seniors Open at Carnoustie, plays here at St Enodoc in the Cornish Festival every year.  He found his form at the right time on Sunday, who was on form here on Saturday?

John Arnold was victorious in the Colonel’s Cup scoring 39 points and winning on countback.  John plays off 6 and had a great round scoring well throughout and hitting a nett birdie on the 9th.  Paul Warren came in second, a tough spot, after scoring 39 points!  Paul birdied the 6th.  Julian Darnell finished in 3rd place with a score of 36 points with Joe Combellack in 4th on 34 points.  In 5th place Steve Buse had 33 points along with Mark Stevenson who finished 6th.  Nick Clarke and Kenton Williams took 7th and 8th place with 32 points apiece.

In the Metropole Cup Mark Jarvis claimed first place with another high scoring round of 37 points, he came back strong after a not so good start on the first.  Ben Chapman scored 36 points to take second place.  Andy Griffiths was 3rd with 35 points and Ryan Perring and Keith Thompson were 4th and 5th both with 34 points.  Malcolm Mullis finished in 6th place on 32 points with Ripke De Boer in 7th just nudging Paul Godfrey into 8th place on countback with 31 points.

Top of the Series tables after round 6 we have John Arnold in the Colonel’s Cup and Keith Thomson in the Metropole.
