Colonel's and Metropole Cups (4)

Published: 15th June 2015

The 4th round of the Colonel’s/Metropole Cups was played on Saturday.  The morning was bright with some wind but for those who played in the afternoon there was a little rain to contend with.  82 members played, 40 in the Colonels Cup and 42 in the Metropole Cup.

Tuck Clagett turned around his form this week to score 36 points and take 1st place on countback in the Colonel’s Cup.  Tuck must have finally made friends with his new driver and with an especially good back nine was able to stay ahead of Steve Buse who finished 2nd also on 36 points.   In third place, John Paul scored 35 points.  Having made a terrible start by failing to score at all on the first, JP scored solidly after that.  John Arnold and Shaun Beare were 4th and 5th respectively, both with 32 points and John Carhart came 6th with 31 points on countback.   Andy Bunt played well in his first match back after 3 months scoring 31 points and finishing 9th.

In the Metropole Cup, William Gowans won with 35 points.  Having joined us from St Mellion this year William could be one to watch this summer!  Keith Thompson continued his recent form in the Metropole series to come 2nd with 34 points ahead of Keith Searle, Nigel Buse and Andy Griffiths who all scored 33 stableford points in 3rd, 4th and 5th place.  In 6th Malcolm Mullis had 32 points and Steve Cock finished in the prizes, in 7th with 31 points on countback.

In the Series, after 4 rounds, Steve Buse and Dave Pooley are tying first in the Colonel’s Cup with 67 points, and Keith Thompson is running away from the field to lead the Metropole Series with 71 points.
