Cold winds for the Ladies

Published: 18th December 2011

Friday 16th December saw two Ladies competitions, there was another round of the Stableford Salver on a morning that started with a brisk north westerly wind making the front nine particularly difficult. Fortunately the wind dropped as the morning went on and made playing a bit more enjoyable. The winner with 32 points, after birdieing the 18th, was Vicky Stephenson. In second with 30 points was Celia Jarvis and third was Sue G Jones with 29 points.

The Lady Vets held their Christmas Event as well that day when 18 hardy players took part in a three ball competition on the Holywell Course. This was followed by mulled wine and tea. 10 more ladies joined the players for the festivities in the clubhouse, one of these being the Ladies Captain, Penny Moon who went on to present the prizes. Due to the cold and windy weather the competition was held over 10 holes and the worthy winners were Gill Goodright, Cath Buscombe and Pauline Meredith with a score of 46 points.
