Champion !

And the 2016 Cornwall County Golf Union Mens Amateur Champion is ............. Joe Cruse  !

With a convincing 7 & 5 win joins Steve Chapman (2000 & 2007) and Antony Nash (2010) as St Enodoc Members who have held this prestigious title in the 21st century. Friendly, courteous and without any pretentions whatsoever Joe is a real young gentleman of whom the Club can be very proud.

Our usual reporter (revealed yesteday as our Captain David Elliott) sent us this report from the course -

Well done Joe, the whole club is proud of you and the smiles on Bob and Annie will take a while to wear off this evening. Joe got off yet again to a good start this morning and lunched 5 up and never let go.  Playing very controlled and impressive golf he never let Ryan Curtis come back at him. The tenth hole was finally overcome with a birdie yet Ryan had an eagle, don’t you love that hole Joe. Joe was 6 up coming to the 13th and just as in the semi final finished the game with a flourish holing a very tricky downhill putt from just off the green for a birdie and the match. The game was played in a great spirit which was good to see, well done Joe and Ryan it was golf played as it should be.
At the prize giving the county team to play at St Enodoc in the South West County championship was announced. Having seen most of them play this week we are in for a great treat in June.
