Captains Away Day and More for the Ladies
Sunday 21st was a fine pleasant day welcomed the 2 early starters for the Roworth Salver "8" Sue Roworth and Kath Biddle who played at 08.21 in order to get in and play in the Cole, Rayment and White Competition on the Holywell Course. Well worth the early start Kath was Runner up in the CRW Competition along with Steve Smith and Zac Burt!

The rest of the field also enjoyed good conditions but tricky pin placements (Club Champions of Cornwall went out later in the day!) must of had an affect on scoring. Not for Jo Gadney though, she played sublime golf and scored a fantastic 41 pts and was cut to a handicap of 10. Well done Jo! Second was Jackie Churcher on 31 points and third Penny Knight with 31 points.

On Tuesday 23rd August a 4 Ball Better Ball was played on both courses off 3/4 handicap. Sue G Jones and Shannon Ashcroft came in as winners on the Church Course with a magnificent 42 points.  In Second Place were Barbara Willmott and Kath Biddle with 41 points.  On the Holywell Course the winners, with 41 points, were Annie Matthews and Carol Waterworth.

Later in the week Heather Brewer and Celia Jarvis played in the final of the Soper Rose Bowl.  Heather played her way to a 3 hole lead after 9 holes but Celia was not giving in and fought back to come out the winner of this Trophy.

On Friday 30 ladies travelled to Bowood for the annual Captains Away Day!  Rain, rain and more rain!!!  The staff at Bowood did everything they could to reschedule our times but the rain would not relent. After a 2 hour delay and some efficient draining of the water covered course we managed to play 9 holes starting on the 10th hole even though the rain continued to fall. It did stop just before play finished but unfortunately we were not able to play a full 18.

Sue G Jones and Annie Hawkey organised and reorganised very efficiently and we all enjoyed some long awaited golf and a lovely meal. The format was 3 Ball Better Ball off full handicap.  Celia Jarvis, Janine Clagett and Lynn Ashcroft were the winners followed by Kath Biddle, Viv Steer and Maxine Rich in second and Bev Vann, Susie Willmott and Sue Walker in third.
