The annual foursomes competition involving a Junior and an adult partner competing for the Buse Shield took place on Sunday 12th June. Conditions were dull with some drizzle to start with but improved as the afternoon went on and some good scoring was achieved by several of the partnerships.

In the end it was last years winner Liam Bateman who, with his playing partner Gloria Crouch achieved an impressive score of 49 points to secure the shield. The remaining prizes were extremely close, all on 44 points so countback was necessary to finalise the order (although it seemed that if your surname was Crouch or Harper that was also a factor!);

1st Liam Bateman & Gloria Crouch 49 points

2nd Charlie Edwards & Frank Harper 44 points

3rd George Hanson & Jim Crouch 44 points (back 6)

4th Quinn Bateman & Lorna Harper 44 points (back 9)

Juniors Vice Captain Lottie Clemens thanked all the players for their participation as well as thanking Trudy Tremain and Heather Clemens for organising the event, and Vice Captain Tony Mindel and Ladies Vice Captain Tamsin Blake for presenting the prizes.

It was fantastic to see so many juniors competing in this competition and gathering in the clubhouse afterwards to enjoy their cheesy chips and catch up on the highs and lows of their round (good practice for future clubhouse banter!). Thanks must also go out to the small group of adults who have consistently supported the junior competitions this year, without whom these fixtures could not take place. It was good to see some of the stalwart supporters in the prizes today - well deserved rewards!
