Brenton In a Run of Form

JOHN CORY CUP 8

Kevin Brenton cruised his way to a magnificent 40 points in the eighth round of the John Cory Cup. He of recent Perranporth Winter Foursomes glory showed that it was no fluke, his recent vein of form. His nonchalant style and easy manner belied the testy conditions on the Church Course and his card was a thing of beauty. Playing off 5, Brents was level par on the outward nine and one over coming home.  Some other very good scores were also recorded – Paul Honey and Robbie Moore had 36 points and Rob Davies and Matt Smith each had 35 points.

With the final Cory Cup to be played next Saturday it is tightly grouped at the top. With only five series points difference in the top five players it can be anybody’s trophy this year. Series leader John Arnold will be defending a one-point series lead over Pete Jory. Martin Biddle is 3 points further back and Andy Beare or Norman Evans can overtake the lead with a good round on Saturday. In case you are wondering, Brenton has only entered two Cory Cups this year, having been pre-occupied with his exploits at Perranporth.
