Battle Trophy Round 5

Published: 22nd August 2013

The words mad dogs and Englishmen came to mind during the Round 5 of the Battle Trophy played last Saturday with the field of 51 members having to battle against some of the worst conditions faced in Saturday competition this year. Despite the weather being poor all day the earlier starters did have the slightly better conditions and this was reflected in the scoring with most of the better scores coming from those out early.

Tom Meek’s winning score of 67 was very impressive played in those conditions under a Medal format and was good enough to win by two shots from Ryan Perring and Richard Hawken both returning excellent scores of 69 with Ryan finishing in Second after count-back. Both Ryan and Richard picked up the maximum 20 points in the Battle Series which now puts Richard in a tie for the lead with Ken Perring  with two rounds left to play.
