Battle Trophy Round 2 incorporating the Ken Tune Cup

Published: 19th May 2014

Round 2 of the Battle Trophy was played in glorious sunshine on Saturday 17th May 2014.  There was hardly a breath of wind and the scores show that the conditions were enjoyed by most of the 62 players who entered.

Nick Evans won on countback from Oliver Walsh both of whom had magnificent scores.  Oliver Walsh shot a Gross 70 while Nick Evans shot 72 equalling the day's Competiton Standard Scratch.   Both players netted 66 with Nick winning on the last 3 scores.

The competition also incorporated the Ken Tune Cup, played in celebration of Ken Tune's outstanding round at the age of 76 in which his gross score was 76.  The winner is the player whose gross score, less his age results in the lowest ‘KT differential’!

No one has yet equalled Ken Tune's feat or even come very close, and this year the closest was John Retford who’s Gross Score was just 12 more than his age.  Well done Ken.  We will not include your gross score here in order to protect your modesty!
