Another win for the Seniors

Published: 24th April 2016

Tehidy Teepegs (Seniors) were the visitors on Friday, 22 April and apparently the sun was shining brightly over their home club when they began their trip to our links. Their welcome was otherwise – the day had a drab, grey face and a veil of Cornish ‘mizzle’ lay lazily over the course undisturbed for once by the infamous St Enodoc wind. Thus, it was a very damp day, but fortunately, not quite as damp as the forecast threatened. Nevertheless, the metaphorical sun shone for the Old Saints as they secured a comfortable win by 5½ - 2½. Richard Parsons continued his rich run of form to win 6 & 5 and of course, his partner Bill Hughes played his part too. All the more worthy as he was enjoying a peaceful senior moment when Captain Paul Godfrey ‘phoned to see where he was. He did manage to change out of his pyjamas, but that was about all !

  • Paul Godfrey & Nigel Thomas won 2 & 1
  • Frank Harper & Malcolm Cole lost 5 & 3
  • Roger Priestley & Garry Cooper won 4 & 3
  • Mike Lovett & Keith Godfrey won 2 & 1
  • Richard Parsons & Bill Hughes won 6 & 5
  • Harry Gliddon & David Balmford won 4 & 3
  • John Bower & Stuart Sandercock lost 2 & 1
  • Des Kelly & John Harbinson halved

NTP: Stuart Sandercock

Old Hickory’s Trivia:

No matter how precarious its lie, a ball at rest will tend to remain at rest until the moment it is addressed.
A ball will always travel farthest when hit in the wrong direction.
Every distortion in the flight of the ball towards the target produces an equal and opposite contortion in the body of the player who hit it.
