An away win for the Seniors

Published: 7th July 2017

Hot, sunny, little or no wind and the local derby against the Ramblers of the Point this past Tuesday, what could be more challenging!

Captain Keith Hawke and past captain Paul Godfrey led the charge of the Old Saints hoping to achieve a win at the first attempt at The Point. It turned into a lost point against a determined Captain Rick Farrant and his 23, yes 23 handicapper partner Robin Goodwin! They played very well for their 4 & 3 win. Never mind, plenty to come from the rest, and so it was a second lost point in match 2 but a win in match 3 and spirits were rising, match 4 went to the Ramblers then it all started to happen, match 5 a fantastic 7 & 5 win followed by a half point from match 6 finishing with 2 good wins in matches 7 & 8. A final result of 4.5 to 3.5 to the Old Saints. As captain Keith said in his closing speech, "Always have a strong tail". Results....

  • Keith Hawke & Paul Godfrey Lost 4 & 3
