On Sunday 29th July another round of the Roworth Salver was played in windy but dry conditions and three ladies tied with 32 points. However, with the best back nine Pauline Meredith came out on top followed by Sue Ofield and Barbara Willmott on countback. On Tuesday a 4 Ball Better Ball Competition was held on both courses with some excellent scores from the prize winners. On the Church Course Meg Godfrey and Shannon Ashcroft teamed up together again after doing well in the Baron Rose Bowl recently. The result was that they were again successful coming in first with 41 points. The pairs in second and third places both scored 38 points but Sarah Sandercock and Edna Alford took second place on countback with mother and daughter pairing Barbara and Sue Willmott coming third. On the Holywell Course Carole Carter and Mary Hooper took first place with 39 points on countback from Carol Waterworth and Revel Webb while Jaye Guest and Ann Crossley came in third with 37 points. On Wednesday a league team travelled to Porthpean for a match but unfortunately lost 4 - 3.
Sunday 5th August the semi-final of the Gammon Trophy took place at Carlyon Bay between St Enodoc and Trevose. Despite hard rain and heavy showers falling all around they were fortunate the weather stayed dry. The course played well but the greens were tricky and made scoring difficult for all. However, St Enodoc Ladies came out on top winning 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. Jean Tatum had the first win beating her opponent 6 & 4. Sarah Sandercock and Sue G Jones both had emphatic wins of 4 & 3. With Katie Rule and Sue Ofield losing on the last couple of holes this left us needing one more win. Bev Vann was all square after 18 holes and was on her way down the 19th when Lauren Williams birdied the 17th to take her to 1 up. She then won the final hole to take her match and give St Enodoc the victory they had worked so hard for. We will now play Tehidy (who beat Carlyon Bay at Mullion) in the final on 16th September at Trevose.
