A busy and very successful week for the Ladies

Published: 13th May 2012

This has been a busy week for the St Enodoc Ladies with 2 league matches, a Better Ball Competition on both courses and another round of the Mail On Sunday Competition. On Bank Holiday Monday we visited Lanhydrock for a League Match and came away with a 4/3 victory. On Thursday we went to Truro and didn't fair so well resulting in a defeat 2 1/2 to 4 1/2.

On Tuesday the better ball competition produced come really good scores on the Church Course despite being played off 3/4 handicap. Sarah Sandercock and Lorna Harper won with 41 points followed by Lynn Ashcroft and Maxine Rich on 40 points. In third place were Celia Jarvis and Angela Tickner with 37 points. On the Holywell Course Joan Buse and Pam Hall were the winners with 34 points on countback from Jay Guest and Rita Bentley.

On Sunday we went to West Cornwall Golf Club for the 5th Round of the Mail on Sunday Competition. We couldn't believe our luck when the sun came out and, in comparison to the week of the County Championships held there in April, the wind was brisk but not a problem. We had a very successful day with a final result of 4 1/2 to St Enodoc and 1/2 to West Cornwall. Meg Godfrey was out first and had a fine win of 6 & 4 despite giving 9 shots to her opponent. Sue Roworth came in to play after one of the team had to pull out through injury and won 2 & 1. Lauren Williams halved her match. Di Dingle won 3 & 2 and Bev Vann won 2 & 1 although she had to give 5 shots. We now look forward to finding out who we will play in the next round.
