3 Ball Texas Scramble

Published: 16th January 2017

This Saturday’s competition was a 3 Ball Texas Scramble.  Each player in the 3 man team plays every shot with the preferred position taken each time.  The team must use at least 4 drives from each player and 90% of the team’s combined handicap is deducted from the gross score at the end.

The format was helpful in the fierce conditions on Saturday.  The strong north- westerly wind made each and every shot a challenge so having 2 other team mates to help you along was in most cases much appreciated.  There were a few lost balls but thankfully no loss of teeth as in the Degale super-middleweight fight!

Finishing in 1st place Matthew Warr, Greg Mather and Dennis Brown made up a strong team.  They had 3 birdies and 14 pars to finish with a gross score of 67, netting them 63.4 after their handicap reduction.

In second place Matthew Mills, Stuart Morley and Graham Keeble also finished with a gross 67 but their team handicap netted them a 63.5.

3rd place went to Nick Shelley, Joe Tamblyn and Colin Earle who finished with a nett 63.9 and in 4th  Stuart Fleet, Ian Day and Paul Clemens had 64.4 nett.  Mike Masters, Colin Reynolds and Rex Molloy came in 5th with 64.5 nett.
