3-2-1 Was a Test

Published: 1st May 2017

The format of the Men's competition on Saturday 29th April was the 3-2-1, a 3-man team comp that, as the name suggests, asks for 3 scores, 2 scores and 1 score respectively in each three-hole sequence. A stern south-easterly breeze made the front nine far more hospitable than the back and the collective found the finish quite punishing. Twenty-three teams set out, needing 3 scores from the off, on a course that has changed in terms of look and play over the past week. Firm, fiery fairways & greens coupled with the breezy conditions fooled more than one player on the day!

Winners were the team of Mike Buse, Rob Cook and Steve Buse with 71 points, just edging out Julian Darnell, Mark Pimble and Roger Tremain with 70 points. Tied on 69 were David Barber, Bob Cruse & Neil Carhart who beat Neal Jolly, Andrew Burt and Joe Tamblyn on countback. Further back were Joe Combellack, Tom Hughes and Chris Jennings on 67 beating Kevin Richards, Andy Carthew and Peter George, also on countback.
