3-2-1 Competition

Published: 4th May 2015

Twenty teams competed this week in the 3-2-1 Competition.   The fun format consisted of 1 score to count on the first, 2 on the second and 3 on the third, with the pattern continuing through all 18 holes.  The weather was not kind this weekend and the early players fared even worse than those who played later.

The last team home took first place by one point, with much anticipation in the club house from those who had to settle for second place.  Guy Hovil, Ken Perring and Greg Carter took first place with 65 points, their score at the 18th of just 1 point with 3 scores to count, lowered what could have been a runaway victory.  They must have felt under pressure, from those watching in the clubhouse!

Mike Buse, Nigel Buse and Rob Cook had to settle for 2nd on countback with 64 points.  Leaving Dave Pooley, Norman Hawkey and Mike Kent in 3rd place.  The top 3 places were tight, with Mike, Nigel and Rob dipping in form from 15 on, and David, Norman and Mike failing to score at all at 13.

In 4th place Keith Hawke, Kevin Richards and Paul Honey scored 62 points to beat Stuart Morley, Stuart Fleet and Graham Keeble on countback into 5th place.  Nick Shelley, Malcolm Jones and Ripke De Boer sneaked into the prizes at 6th place with 60 points.
