A gentle but chilly breeze stirred the trees surrounding the Holywell course as the men and women of the St Enodoc Senior sections embarked on this year’s Lambs’ Gambol. The competition was between teams of four, comprising both men and women, where three scores were to count on each hole.

After a shot gun start the conditions were conducive to a fine day’s golf. The course was firm and closely trimmed with the greens running quickly. This is an annual combination of the two golfing sections and forms a popular social event in the St Enodoc calendar. There are prizes for nearest the pin. This year the Lady’s prize went to Lorna Harper; and the Men’s prize went to Garry Cooper, who very nearly had a hole in one on the 5th hole.

The competition proved to be very close with three teams all scoring 122 points and having to be separated by counts back. Second prize with 124 points went to Nigel Thomas, Geoff Matthews, Bobby Rounsevell, and Cath Beagley. But the overall winners with 128 points were the two Captains, Keith Hawke and Pam Hall, with Peter Meredith and Carol Carter.

As always, the event was an enjoyable celebration of golfing fellowship and much lamb will be eaten over the weekend.
