Twenty four pairs battled against the elements to compete for the Ian Waters Memorial Trophy on Sunday 11th May. Ian Waters was the Secretary of the Club immediately before our present General Manager and this competition marks his untimely death whilst still in office. The format of Mixed Greensomes Stableford usually leads to high scoring but with competitors having to contend with gusting winds of 30 – 40 mph, the prize winning totals were moderate in comparison with previous years

On returning to the clubhouse, members appreciated the brand-new furnishings in the lower bar and enjoyed the general ambience created by the recent renovations. Captain, Tony Rounsevell thanked everyone for playing and reminded them that tickets were on sale for the social evening on Saturday 31st May to celebrate the refurbishment of the clubhouse.

At the end of a challenging day positions were decided by the narrowest of margins:

  • 1st Celia Jarvis & Rich Matheron  31 points (after count back)

  • 2nd Annie & Norman Hawkey  31 points

  • 3rd Annie & Bob Cruse  30 points

  • 4th Sarah & Stuart Sandercock  29 points

Celia thanked everyone involved in organising a most successful and enjoyable day.
